Little by little the heart quits.
Little by little the mind decays.
Little by little ones sanity is put to the test.
Till nothing is left but a hollow shell.
Forced to roam the endless expanse that is life.
looking for purpose to fill the void.
Eventually the inevitable comes to pass.
The heart ceases any and all function.
The mind is forced to shutdown.
The journey through life comes to an end.
Leading up to a point were life is no more.
Then comes the choice all must face.
For some it is a blessing.
For others a curse.
For those reading I ask you this.
Is it a blessing or is it a curse to die.
The price for living in this world is pain and sorrow.
Etched into your very being by those around you.
Speaking to you in caring voices, and yet full of hate.
They may say that they care for you, but it is all lies.
They may say lean on me if you need to cry.
But what if it was you who caused me pain
The darkness in this world so black and cruel.
No escape for any souls that get trapped within.
Your legs burning as you run with all your might.
As my soul seeks out the last rays of light.
Then you realize it is of no use.
You will die here without any hope of leaving.
Cursed to live in this world.
That is reality, that is life.
Soaring above the bright blue sky.
Wings wide and head held high.
Crisp wind running through my scales.
Muscles rippling from head to tail.
The ground below so vast and wide.
My eyes are prone and my prey can’t hide.
Lying in wait in the tall green grass.
Waiting for my form to pass.
I see rustling far down below.
The creature is moving so very slow.
Circling above for my chance to strike.
It yells out to me to take a hike.
A smile adorned my scaly lips.
Looking down at my little sis.
Even though she tries to act tough.
Her cute voice made me laugh.
As she stared I began my decent.
Wings out and knees bent.
As I land s
With the sight of death as far as the eye can see.
The smell of blood permeates around me.
Forgotten in a sea of lost souls and broken dreams.
Lay the friends I once knew, their faces twisted, mangled, and scared.
The horrors of war etched into their being by a war that knows no end.
As I sit here in a pool of my own despair.
Trying to recall the events that brought me here.
All I can think about is the people I will never see again.
And the things I never had a chance to say.
I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye.
Before there light was snuffed out and they were no more.
People say we must protect what we love with our liv
